🏥👏 Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (Te Whatu Ora MidCentral) has launched a kaiāwhina training initiative across its Palmerston North and Horowhenua hospitals. The inaugural cohort of 52 kaiāwhina staff from the acute care, medical, mental health, operating theatre, outpatients, and older adult departments will move through a year-long, on-job training programme to complete the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 3. Careerforce is supporting Te Whatu Ora MidCentral with the delivery of the programme and has trained 14 senior nurses to become Careerforce registered assessors and 48 staff to observe the kaiāwhina during their training.

🤝 We have teamed up with UCOL Te Pūkenga to support THINK Hauora's primary care workforce in the Manawatū region. Together, we're committed to upskilling and helping them achieve recognised qualifications. "Careerforce and UCOL identified an opportunity to combine their skills, knowledge, and resources. This partnership enables work-based learning and support for those currently working in a general practice setting in a patient support role (e.g., health care assistant, receptionist) who are interested in developing a career and/or gaining a qualification in health and well-being, supporting people, whānau, and the broader healthcare team," says Belinda Stone, Learning and Development Manager at THINK Hauora.
