Over the last 6 months, Careerforce has been undertaking a major Qualifications Pathway Review (QPR) which has involved extensive consultation with stakeholders. We have now received confirmation from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) that the recommended changes have been approved.

“We are pleased to share this great news to our stakeholders that the reviewed health and wellbeing qualifications are now approved by NZQA,” says Rod Bentham, General Manager Learning Solutions at Careerforce.

The reviewed NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2) and NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) went through with minor changes. The most notable change is on the Level 4 qualification. NZACA members strongly recommended that the Level 4 qualification be updated to reflect the level of skills now required of the workforce to support more complex conditions.

The NZQA has approved the replacement of the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Support) (Level 4) by a new 120-credit qualification.

Simon Wallace, CEO of NZACA, extends his appreciation to everyone involved in the review. “This could not have been achieved without collaboration. Thank you to all members who actively participated in the qualification reviews and to the Careerforce team. Thank you for working with us in ensuring that the workforce has the right skills and knowledge to support our ageing population.”

Careerforce are now planning the programme reviews and development for these qualifications. Bentham asks that NZACA and other stakeholders continue to support Careerforce at these crucial next steps.

“The programme is where the details are. We ask that you continue to work with Careerforce so we can deliver workplace training programmes that provide the skills you require of your staff and meet your organisation’s requirements.”
